Memory Tapes, “Walk Me Home”

Memory Tapes, “Walk Me Home”

If you haven’t yet found yourself compulsively listening to Memory Tapes‘ debut album “Seek Magic” this fall season, you’re just in time to catch the bug on “Walk Me Home”, the Hallowe’en-inspired track released on ARAWA today.

At 17 minutes long, it’s a sinister-sounding ode to the fine art of good horror movie soundtracks, not to mention it’s the perfect way to get in the right mindset for the holiday ahead. See for yourself.

Delancey Music Service First Episode

Delancey Music Service First Episode

Eli Escobar and Stretch Armstrong have come together to create the Delancey Music Service, a weekly radio show on East Village Radio. First episode and it’s already a big ol slice of hot jams and timid banter straight from two of the best out.

EVR killed their podcasts, but Eli’s blogsplot should have your fix every week.

NOSAJ THING Visual Show Compilation (test video)

NOSAJ THING Visual Show Compilation (test video)

Over the past few years I’ve been really fascinated with idea of video projection and how it curates to live performances through the anticipation of tone and mood. As of most recent, I happen to stumble on California’s hip hop producer & DJ Nosaj Thing’s Visual show Compilation test shoot.

A collaboration between: Adam Guzman & Julia Tsao made it possible to bring forth this visual experience, which was demonstrated at the Redbull Megahurtz party in Montréal earlier this month. Excited to see how far these experiences will go on from here.

Click here to watch the video and become amazed.

Model 500: Huesca

Model 500: Huesca

The other day I overheard a conversation in a coffee shop about how Techno wasn’t “real music”, and then I opened up the paper and saw that Model 500 has a really good new record out.

Now, I don’t know exactly how I arrived in 1988, but if the music is this good, I think I might stay here for a while.

Tree Wave: Free Virtual 10”

Tree Wave's Insane Visuals

Tree Wave: Free Virtual 10”

After a five year wait, the Dallas-based electronic outfit Tree Wave has released four new songs, freely available as a downloadable “Virtual 10-inch”.

The band, consisting of computer artist Paul Slocum and Lauren Grey, reprogram 80s home computers and printers into dreamy noise-boxes, unleashing a wash of analog and digital noise that recalls My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Get the whole thing here.

Tomas Fehlmann: Mutek 2009 picnic set

Mutek just released the Tomas Fehlmann set from this year’s festival. This lengthy outdoor set was a highlight of mine during the festival, remarkably playing all original productions, crafted throughout his illustrious 20+ year career.

Check it out here.

Smalltown DJs: White Light 11

Smalltown DJs: White Light 11

Smalltown DJs are underrepresented on these pages, but the west coast has their back. They have put together the 11th in Neoteric’s White Light mix series.

Their mix carries on the White Light tradition of DJ music that doesn’t quite fit into a sweaty club.  Which is just what I needed this afternoon.

CFCF: Monolith

This Saturday’s More Proof party will be our truest lineup ever, and upstairs for your enjoyment will be Scott Nachos and Montreal’s CFCF.

CF’s (can I call you that? No?) album Continent is coming in October and this little slice of epic piano architecture should give you a good idea of how much it’s going to rock. Come celebrate back to fool with us on Saturday.

Still Going: Spaghetti Circus

Still Going: Spaghetti Circus

Your local DJ might save sexy male vocals in the deeper part of the register for gay night, but all of humanity deserves a luscious ear bath of syrupy wailing from Still Going and vocalist Reggie Watts.

A few months ago my love for disco was in full bloom, and since then I have been reviving my love for guitar. Nestled lovingly between these two obsessions is Spaghetti Circus.
