RA podcast: Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts
The ex-pat Canadian Guillaume, now living in Berlin (heard this story 1000 times?) is the latest to take a spin on the Resident Advisor podcast. Interestingly enough, Guillaume is not a DJ in the traditional sense, and usally only performs his own songs in live sets. This being a wonderful exception. Check out a very interesting look into his roots as a electronic house/techno producer.

Creative Use: Beam Me Up
Let me be real for a second: I’m kind of a bad blogger ‘cause up until now, I’ve been saving all my best tunes for myself to DJ. Well, maybe it’s just the holiday season, but I feel like being less of a Hoarder from now on. Here’s an edit of Raymond Scott that came out early in the year on the tiny Creative Use edit label release thing. Look forward to more stuff from me in the new year.

Saving Rolly’s Garage
Rolly’s Garage is the definition of community. This old car garage turned multi-use cultural gallery and performance space has embodied the spirt of creativity in Toronto. It’s played host to some of my favorite Toronto bands like Bonjay and Syrofoam Ones, in addition to countless art shows.
But despite all the great things Rolly’s has brought to the Ossington strip in Toronto, it needs help in order to keep operating as this artist space.
Take a few moments and vote for Rolly’s Garage to recieve help from the Aviva Community Fund - here.

Instant Nif-D: Fine Grind
Toronto producer Matt Smith aka Nifty/Prince Nifty/Nif-Dee recently released the first of many volumes to come in his Instant Nif-D series. “Fine Grind”, calling to mind the counterpuntal phrasing of Steve Reich, and the polyphonic complexity of the pygmies, spans a quarter of an hour but somehow leaves you wanting more.

Memory Tapes, “Walk Me Home”
If you haven’t yet found yourself compulsively listening to Memory Tapes‘ debut album “Seek Magic” this fall season, you’re just in time to catch the bug on “Walk Me Home”, the Hallowe’en-inspired track released on ARAWA today.
At 17 minutes long, it’s a sinister-sounding ode to the fine art of good horror movie soundtracks, not to mention it’s the perfect way to get in the right mindset for the holiday ahead. See for yourself.

Delancey Music Service First Episode
Eli Escobar and Stretch Armstrong have come together to create the Delancey Music Service, a weekly radio show on East Village Radio. First episode and it’s already a big ol slice of hot jams and timid banter straight from two of the best out.
EVR killed their podcasts, but Eli’s blogsplot should have your fix every week.
