As Day Turns To Night
A house classic that came to mind when Gabe launched the missile that is Roller Disco 3. From such strong source material, it’s no wonder that 900 Degrees is such a stormer. Is stormer an ok buzzword these days? Can you believe this track is ten years old now!

Roller Rink Disco #2
Morgan Geist once said that Canadians have “exquisite bad taste” when it comes to music. Well, that seems a little rich coming from a New Jerseyite, but listening to this track by the Montreal disco project “Erotic Drum Band” makes me see where he’s coming from.
Still, I always feel a swell of patriotic pride when I play this out and watch those bubbling synths bring bodies to the floor.

Roller Rink Disco #1
When roller-discos started opening up in the 70s, their resident DJs noticed that it was impossible to for people to skate to the up-tempo numbers being played at nightclubs of the day. Originally, this meant they had to dig into their b-sides and album tracks (or make their own edits), but soon enough, producers started pumping out slower tracks to accommodate this corner of the market.
Now, I can’t think of many things goofier than roller discos, nor can I think of anything more cynical than tailoring your music to a cheesy trend, but more often than not, these tracks have stood the test of time much better than a lot of their up-tempo counterparts. It really goes to show you that in the end, good music is good music, regardless of its original context. I’ll be posting roller-disco songs all week.

White Light Mix Volume 19: Your Boy Brian
I knew that Your Boy Brian would do a great mix for Neoteric and Matty C’s White Light mix series, but this is nicely exceeding my expectations. The dude brought his A game on this one.
Brian’s own description is almost as entertaining as the music:
“This mix was a pleasant departure from all the commercial gigs i’ve been taking on lately. It’s sorta paced like a movie / square rpg; little peaks and valleys, a few bittersweet melodies, a cathartic finish and then the credits roll. It’s also makes for decent listening while you’re doing crossword puzzles.”

Styrofoam Ones: OTTAP (Gingy Remix)
Styrofoam Ones are having a banner year, including a stream of solid remixes, but our favorite for some time has been this little doozy from our very own Gingy. Here it is, for your enjoyment, courtesy of the band.
Gingy has been playing this at the More Proof parties for months now, with a great response, so you may recognize it.

Pilotpriest: Body Double out now
The latest release from our in-house phantom of the galaxy is the brooding, slow mo explosion Body Double, a track that became famous this week when a blog decided it was the new Daft Punk. It’s not Daft Punk, no, But it is damn good, and few artists could stand up to the comparison.
Lucky for Pilotpriest, the release was just about ready. So here it is in all of its glory, he’s pulled it out of the stable and slapped its ass so it can run off into the world.

Etienne Jaumet: Night Music
This song is from the kind of album that makes you want to buy the CD and carry it around in your discman everywhere you go for three weeks until you know every single note of it off by heart. Do people still listen to music that way?
Oh, well they should. Get Night Music wherever fine albums are sold.
